Orillia food bank supporters raise $1,767 through Kraft fundraiser

Supporters of The Sharing Place Food Bank have raised $1,767 for the Orillia food bank through an online fundraiser titled Kraft Food for Families.

The fundraiser concluded on November 15, having reached the $50,000 goal established by Kraft Canada and Food Banks Canada.

People across Canada were invited to click on www.kraftassists.ca, where they entered their name, email address and favourite food bank among the 30 listed. They could do so every day for as long as the fundraiser lasted.

Friends of The Sharing Place rallied and, when all was said and done, the Orillia food bank ranked sixth in terms of number of registered supporters.

By contrast, 303 people supported the Vancouver Food Bank and only 187 came to the aid of a food bank in Antigonish, N.S. The Salvation Army Food Bank in Owen Sound topped the ranking with 22,232 online supporters.
