Orillia Family Health Network donates $5,000 to Orillia food bank

The Orillia Family Health Network recently donated $5,000 to The Sharing Place Food Bank and its mission of feeding the hungry in the Orillia area. The network operates the busy Orillia After Hours Medical Clinic and is made up of 21 family physicians.

During a brief ceremony at the clinic, network member Dr. Becky van lersel (left), presented the generous cheque to The Sharing Place board member Cheri Carman (right).

The clinic provides after-hours, non-emergency care in an office setting and celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.

Recently, the Orillia and Area Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee established an office in the clinic for the use of young physicians who are new to Orillia and just beginning their medical practice.

Some 8,900 area residents do not have a family physician.
